Best of Wildlife & Pinch of Culture (11 Days/10 Nights)

Day 01 Arrive Delhi
Arrive Delhi late in the evening. On arrival you will be received by our representative for transfer to hotel. Overnight at the hotel.
 

  Day 02 Delhi
Morning you will be taken to visit Old Delhi - Former centre of Mughal Power, Old Delhi offers ancient monuments, narrow streets and bustling bazaars. Drive past the Red Fort, built in 1648 and board the ‘rickshaw ride’ for a unique experience from the Red Fort, through “Chandni Chowk” or Silver Street, experiencing the sights and sounds of this very busy avenue-heading west from the Fort. Later visit the Jama Masjid, the greatest mosque in India and completed in 1658 by Shah Jahan who also built the Taj Mahal, and the Raj Ghat, the simple memorial to Mahatma Gandhi. This afternoon you will be taken to visit New Delhi - drive past the stately government buildings of the British Era designed by Lutyens, including the India Gate & the Presidential Palace. Continue onto the beautiful Humayun’s tomb of the Mughal era & predecessor of the world famous Taj Mahal. End the tour at the towering minaret of Qutub Minar. Overnight at the hotel.

 
Day 03 Delhi – Corbett
Morning drive to Corbett (295 kms). Upon arrival in Corbett - check into hotel. Corbett National Park –India's oldest and one of the best parks covering 1318 sq. kms is situated in the Himalayan foothills with open grasslands & river Ramganga flowing through its entire length. It is named after the famous hunter naturalist Corbett who, between 1907 & 1939 tracked down and killed man eaters which had claimed an aggregate of 1300 human lives. It is India's first & biggest Tiger reserve sponsored by ‘World Wildlife Fund’ supporting 50 mammals, 580 bird & 25 reptile species. Overnight at the hotel.
 
Day 04 Corbett
Early morning & afternoon, enjoy Jeep safari into the park for wildlife viewing and to spot Tigers.
PARK POPULATION:
Corbett has the highest density of Tiger in the country-- approximately one every 10 sq km and it was here that the prestigious "Project Tiger" was launched in 1973. Four species of deer - hog deer, sambar, chital and barking deer and other prey like the wild boar, are fodder for the tiger. Besides the tiger, Corbett is a haven for 50 mammals, 580 kinds of birds and 25 reptile species. The park has elephants, the Himalayan black bear in the higher elevations, sloth bear, varieties of lesser cats, dhole the wild dog and an entire spectrum of colourful birds including water birds, pheasants, jungle fowl and the Indian hornbill. Basking along the banks of the Ramganga are the slender snouted Gharial and the mugger or marsh crocodile. The river is rich in the magnificent mahaseer-- a fine sporting fish prized by anglers, though angling is not permitted inside the national park. Other variety of fish found here are the goonch and the brown trout. Rest of the day at leisure for own activities and to enjoy the facilities of the resort. Overnight at the hotel..
 
Day 05 Corbett – Unchagaon
Early morning enjoy Jeep safari into the park for wildlife viewing and to spot Tigers. Later in the afternoon drive to Unchagaon (210 Kms). Upon arrival check into Uchagaon Fort. Rest of the day is at your leisure. Overnight at the hotel.

  Day 06 Unchagaon – Agra
Morning drive to Agra (175 Kms). Upon arrival in Agra, check into your hotel. Afternoon visit the famous Taj Mahal -This most famous Moghul monument was constructed by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal "the lady of the Taj". It has been described as the most extravagant monument ever built for love, for the emperor was heartbroken when Mumtaz died after 17 years of marriage, during the birth of her 14th child. (Taj Mahal is closed on Friday). Visit Red Fort - lies on the bend of the river Yamuna, almost in the heart of the town. It was built by Akbar as his citadel over the years 1563-73 in the finest architectural style. It has imposing gates and walls of red sandstone and a moat. Overnight at the hotel.

 

  Day 07 Agra – Bharatpur
Morning drive to Bharatpur en route visiting Fatehpur Sikri. Fatehpur Sikri - the impressive sandstone fortress was built in the 16th century and only occupied for a few years before being abandoned, leaving the buildings in virtually perfect conditions. Continue your drive to Bharatpur. Upon arrival in Bharatpur, check into your hotel. Visit famous Keoladeo Ghana Bird Sanctuary. Board the cycle rickshaws to the famous Keoladeo Ghana Bird Sanctuary, which is a wonder of the natural world and no less worth seeing than the marble mausoleum of the Taj. Here over 350 species of birds find refuge in the 29 sq. kms of shallow lakes & wood lands of the park. A third of them are migrants many of whom winter in Bharatpur before returning to their breeding grounds as far away as Siberia and Central Asia. Overnight at the hotel.

 

  Day 08 Bharatpur – Ranthambore
Morning visit the Bird Sanctuary. Later transfer to Bharatpur railway station in time to board your train to Sawaimadhopur
Depart: Bharatpur               at: 1545 hours     by: Jan Shatabdi
Arrive: Sawai Madhopur     at: 1800 hours
You will be met upon arrival at Sawai Madhopur and transferred to your hotel in Ranthambore. Upon arrival, check-in at hotel. Overnight at the hotel.

 

  Day 09 Ranthambore
Early morning & late afternoon you will be escorted on a game viewing in the sanctuary by canter/jeeps. Ranthambore Wildlife Sanctuary - Rajasthan's most renowned wildlife sanctuary, it is 400 sq kms of dry deciduous forest, perfect natural habitat for tigers, and is set in the Aravalli and Vindhya hills, dotted with pavillions and dominated by a hilltop fort. Ranthambore was one of the hunting preserves of the former rulers of Jaipur and because of this the Maharajas ensured the environment was preserved and the forest and their inhabitants well protected. It has a good population of tiger and their prey species, and has been declared a "Project Tiger" reserve. Wildlife includes blue bull, black buck, spotted deer or cheetal, wild boar, a large variety of bird species and, if very lucky, the rarely seen leopard. Overnight at the hotel.

 

  Day 10 Ranthambore - Delhi
Early morning you will be escorted on a game viewing in the sanctuary by canter/jeeps. Later in the afternoon you will be transferred to the railway station in time to board your train to Delhi
Depart: Sawai Madhopur      at: 1240 hours             by: Golden Temple Mail
Arrive: Delhi                          at: 1905 hours
You will be met upon arrival and taken to the International airport in time to connect your flight back home on the early morning of Day 13 (check in time at the airport is 03 hours prior to the time of departure).

  

  Day 11 Delhi - Onward Destination
Depart Delhi.
